Couples Therapy
Maybe you've said...
"We need more effective communication."
"Our trust has been broken and needs to be rebuilt."
"Our arguments go from 1 to 100."
"I want a closer connection with my partner."
Couples therapy is effective for couples experiencing significant relationship distress, recurring conflict, attachment injuries, life transitions, mental-health concerns affecting the relationship, or other issues appropriate for psychotherapy.
My approach to couples therapy integrates Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with Gottman Method interventions to help couples build on their strengths, improve communication, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Gottman Method will be utilized in our work together because it is a structured, assessment-driven model organized around friendship, conflict management, repair, shared meaning, and the Sound Relationship House. Gottman’s model emphasizes strengthening friendship, turning toward bids, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy complements this well because it is future-oriented, goal-focused, strength-based, and uses interventions such as scaling, exceptions, preferred-future questions, compliments, and homework.
